Beauty Tip #1

We all know or have heard at some point in our adult lives that our bodies are reflections of what we consume. What we put into our bodies shows up in our energy, mood, skin, hair, and nails etc. This is because the functions of our bodies are altered by how we choose to take care of it, that is if you do not have any known underlying medical conditions or take any medications that may contribute to alterations in your body's natural function. Although it is not always easy to change our eating habits long term, you can increase your overall health by making changes in what you are consuming daily.

Now, let's talk healthy hair. Sometimes we are not getting all the essential nutrients our hair needs to grow including Zinc, Biotin (vitamin B7), Vitamin D, Omega-3 Fatty Acids, Iron, and Protein. In addition to eating better you may consider taking a daily supplement that has the nutritional compound needed. It is recommended to see your doctor to get blood tests to check for nutritional deficiencies or thyroid issues that might be affecting your hair growth. It is so important to invest in your overall health as something such as lack of hair growth can indicate greater health issues. Please, take care.

Beauty Tip #2

Do you love natural remedies for your hair? Well, aromatherapy may be a great option for you. Defined as the natural fragrances of plants (aroma) and its healing properties or curing abilities (therapy), aromatherapy can be incorporated into your hair care routine using essential oils and other natural scalp products containing vitamins and plant extracts. Aromatherapy addresses many things including scalp issues as well as health and wellness concerns. The therapeutic effect of aromatherapy invigorates your scalp, encourages renewed hair growth, relieves flaking, and increases blood flow which are all vital for healthy hair growth. Please note: essential oils should never be applied directly to the skin and should be pre-mixed using a carrier base oil such as grapeseed oil, coconut oil, or sweet almond oil.

Ratio: Base oil/Essential oil 3.5 fl oz (100ml) 20-60 drops 1 fl oz (25 ml) 7-25 drops 1 tsp (5ml) 3-5 drops

Recommendations: Normal hair and scalp: Rosemary, chamomile Oily hair and scalp: Patchouli, Cedarwood, Clary Sage Dry hair and scalp: Ylang Ylang, Sandalwood, Lavender Oily Dandruff: Lemon, Rosemary, Cedarwood, Thyme Alopecia (hair loss): Sandalwood, Bay, Lavendar Clary Sage, Rosemary
